Trenton Thunder News Release
Thunder Return To Face The Mets Next Friday
As the weather has heated up, so have the Thunder! The team finished up a great homestand yesterday morning - they won seven out of eight games and moved to six games over .500 (29-23) for the first time all season. They also vaulted into sole posession of first place in the Northern Division for the first time in 2009.
When the club returns from the road next Friday, the Binghamton Mets, (New York Mets) will be in Trenton for four games in three days.
In addition to great baseball from your first place Thunder, top prospects (see the story about Jesus Montero below) and a big community outreach opportunity (see blood drive story below) we've got great giveaways and promotions planned for each game of the seven game homestand. Check out the "This Homestand At A Glance" segment to the right for all the fun stuff going on next week.
Have a great weekend - see you at the ballpark next week!
So This Jesus Guy Must Be Pretty Good The Yankees' number 2 rated prospect (according to Baseball America), Jesus Montero, joined the Thunder on Wednesday after ripping up the Class A Florida State League this season.
The 19-year-old catcher comes to Trenton with a lot of fanfare... just look at what New York Yankee Beat Writer Peter Abrahams had to say, "Do yourself a favor and get over to Waterfront Park to see the Thunder. In a few years, you'll be able to say that you saw Montero before everybody knew who he was. Because everybody is going to know who this guy is eventually."
Here's more coverage on Montero's Thunder debut from Thunder Thoughts Blogger Mike Ashmore:
