Akron RubberDucks News Release

No Split for You...The Aeros were unable to garner a split with Reading yesterday, falling to the Phillies 7-4 in the series finale. Akron has now dropped 10 of its last 14 games and seven of eight, and fell to 2-5 against Reading on the season. The Phillies climbed into a tie with the Erie SeaWolves for second place in the Southern Division with the win, with both clubs now just three games behind the Aeros. Ace Hector Rondon started for Akron but departed after just 3.1 innings with what was termed as "right biceps soreness" and is listed as day-to-day, but while on the mound was charged with five runs and six hits, despite collecting six strikeouts and not allowing a walk. Reliever Carlton Smith inherited two of Rondon's runners and allowed both to score in the bottom of the fourth as the Phillies took the lead for good before adding insurance runs in the seventh and eighth. The Aeros scored four runs in the first three innings but then managed just three hits over the final six frames. Godert's Goner...One of the highlights of yesterday's loss was 3B Jared Goedert's two-run homer off Reading starter Joe Savery. It was Goedert's third home run of the year, and the first-inning blast gave the Aeros an early 3-0 edge. It was also Goedert's first home run with a runner on base this season, and it marked his third multi-RBI game of the year as well. The former Kansas State standout is now batting .204 with 12 runs scored and 12 RBI in 31 games played after missing 17 games earlier in the season with a right oblique injury. Last season with Kinston he batted .255 with 10 home runs while ranking fourth among Cleveland minor leaguers in both runs scored (75) and runs batted in (74). Friendly Waters...The Aeros return to Alto

ona tonight for the beginning of a four-game, three-day series with the Curve (including a doubleheader Saturday). Akron is 10-4 against the Curve this year while averaging 5.29 runs scored and allowing an even 4.0 runs to Altoona. The .714 winning percentage is the second-best mark for the Aeros against any opponent, trailing only the perfect 8-0 record Akron has hung on the Harrisburg Senators.

Tricky #400...Aeros skipper Mike Sarbaugh remains just one win shy of 400 career victories as a minor league manager heading into tonight's game. Sarbaugh is in his sixth year as a manager in the Cleveland minor league system, and has never had a losing season. With last night's loss to Reading he has a career record of 399-287, good for a .582 winning percentage.

Here Comes Jake...Cleveland Indians RHP Jake Westbrook will make a rehab start for Akron tomorrow in game one of the doubleheader. It will be his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2008 season. He has previously pitched for Akron in 2002, 2007, and again last year, tossing six shutout innings against Erie May 23rd.
