X's Fall to Pheasants

Sioux Falls, SD-----The Sioux Falls Pheasants defeated the Explorers 6-2 here Saturday as Sioux City dropped their fourth straight game.

The Pheasants scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed in winning their second straight over the Explorers. It was a 3-0 lead for Sioux Falls before the Explorers finally scored in the fourth on a home run by Jorge Delgado, his third of the season. After Reggie Abercrombie hit a home run for the Pheasants in the fifth inning to make it a 4-1 lead for Sioux Falls. The Explorers added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly RBI by Mike Murphy to cut the lead to 4-2. However, Sioux Falls put the game away with two runs in the eighth.

The bright spots for the Explorers was Wally Backman, Jr. extended his hitting streak to 22 games and Mike Murphy his hitting streak to 12 games. Ray Serrano's 19-game hitting streak came to an end as the Explorers catcher went 0-4.

The final game of the three-game series between the Explorers and Sioux Falls will be played Sunday starting at 5:05.
