
Wynn Pelzer Wins Pitcher of the Month

Fort Wayne, IN - Wizards right-hander Wynn Pelzer was named the San Diego Padres Pitcher of the Month for July and former Wizard outfielder Kellen Kulbacki was named the Player of the Month for July, team officials announced today.
Pelzer was 3-1 with a 1.38 earned run average in five starts. He struck out 21 and allowed only five walks in 26 innings pitched. He held opponents to a .206 batting average during the span.
Kullbacki started the season with Fort Wayne and was promoted to the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League in early May. He hit .165 with a pair of home runs, two doubles and nine runs batted in for Fort Wayne in 18 games.
For the month of July, Kullbacki hit .405 with nine doubles, eight home runs and 23 RBI, while scoring 29 runs. This is the second consecutive month that he was won the monthly player award and the third overall, after he earned player of the month honors in August of last season.
