West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

MIDLAND, MI - Jon Kibler carried a perfect game into the seventh inning and came away with a complete-game, two hit shutout in a 5-0 Whitecaps win over Great Lakes. Erik Kanaby broke up the bid for perfection with a looping single to shallow left with one out in the top of the seventh. West Michigan left fielder Joe Tucker dove, but the ball went off his glove and dropped for a hit. Andrew Lambo then hit into a double play to end the inning. Kibler faced 28 batters in the game - one more than the minimum - after Alfredo Sivlerio lined a two-out double past Kyle Peter, who dove for the ball, in center field in the eighth.

It was Kibler's second two-hit complete game of the season. He went the distance in a 4-2 Whitecaps win at Lansing on May 18. All five of the Whitecaps runs were scored in the fifth inning. Tucker, who went 3-for-4 for the second game in a row, broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single to left. Jordan Newton drove in a second run with a bases loaded ground out. The rally was capped by a three-run homer from Kody Kaiser. He is now the active Whitecaps leader in home runs with eight this season. Casper Wells had ten before his June 6 promotion to Double-A Erie. Wells currently has seven home runs in 50 games with the SeaWolves. Josh Lindblom started the game for Great Lakes and allowed just one hit and faced the minimum 12 batters in five shutout innings. However, he was removed from the game due to a limited pitch count. Garrett White pitched only the fifth for the Loons and took the loss. In his last three plate appearances of the night, Ronnie Bourquin drew walks for West Michigan
