PEORIA, Ill. (February 4, 2009) - Radio station WXCL/104.9 "The Wolf" will host its 17th annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® radiothon on Thursday, February 5th from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday, February 6th from 6:00AM to 7:00 PM, live from Northwoods Mall in Peoria. Peoria Rivermen head coach Davis Payne and Chief Operating Officer Josh Morin are scheduled to be on the air from 2-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Anyone who donates to the radiothon during that hour will receive two free tickets to the Rivermen Fan Appreciation Night on April 11.

The radiothon raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, the world's premier center for the research and treatment of cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. In 2009, the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® program celebrates 20 years of supporting the mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to find cures and save children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

Among this year's highlights, Peoria - area St. Jude patient Stephen, a local high school student, will share his experience with radiothon listeners. Stephen is just one of the tens of thousands of children who have benefited from the cutting-edge research and treatment at St. Jude since its opening on February 4th, 1962. Those interested in helping other children like him can pledge a donation by calling 1-888-283-4673 on Thursday or Friday. Those interested in donating may also donate online at www.1049thewolf.com.
