
Canucks Acquire McIver from Anaheim for Mike Brown

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have acquired defenceman Nathan McIver from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Mike Brown. McIver will report to the Moose.
McIver, 23, was claimed by the Ducks off waivers from Vancouver on Oct. 4/08. He appeared in 18 games with Anaheim this season where he collected his first-ever NHL point (an assist) in his first game as a Duck on Oct. 14/08 vs. Los Angeles. He also collected 36 penalty minutes. As a result, the Summerside, PEI native has now played in 36 games in the NHL with Anaheim and Vancouver and has one point and 95 penalty minutes.
McIver has previously spent three seasons in Manitoba where he has played in 172 career games 172 career games with the Moose, McIver scored 16 points (5-11-16) and 402 penalty. Last year, McIver appeared in 43 games with the Moose scoring six points (3-3-6) and 108 penalty minutes. He scored the overtime winning goal Dec. 22 vs. Hamilton. McIver was originally drafted by Vancouver with their eighth round choice, 254th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Brown, 22, has appeared in 20 games so far this season in Vancouver where he's collected one assist and 85 penalty minutes. In 39 career games with the Canucks, the Northbrook, IL native has two points (1-1-2) and 140 penalty minutes. He has also played in 189 career games over three seasons with the Moose where he scored 31 points (20-11-31) and 534 penalty minutes. He was named the team's Re/Max Most Popular Player following the 2007-08 season and holds the franchise record for the most shorthanded goals scored in one season with five in 2005-06. Brown was originally drafted in the fifth round, 159th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
