Syracuse Crunch News Release

Hamilton, ON (February 4, 2009) - After managing just one goal in its last two games, a stellar effort by Sebastian Dahm in between the pipes and two goals in a four minute, 19 second span in the third period gave the Crunch a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in front of 3,258 fans tonight at Copps Coliseum

Looking to capitalize on its recent road success with a 4-1-0-0 record in its last five road games, the Crunch wanted to get off to a fast start and be consistent after squandering a three-goal lead in a 4-3 loss the last time they visited Hamilton back on January 2.

This time it was the Bulldogs who struck first, though, but not until after a scoreless first frame that saw Hamilton outshoot the Crunch by a 12-4 margin.

Just over six minutes into the second stanza, Kyle Chipchura took a head-man feed from Greg Stewart and took off on a breakaway. Although hooked by Andrey Plekhanov, Chipchura got his shot away and beat Dahm low to the glove side to make it 1-0 Hamilton.

Syracuse struggled to come up with any offensive pressure, managing just 11 shots through the first two periods.

Dahm kept the Crunch in the game with 18 saves on 19 shots through the first 40 minutes.

Dahm made a huge save seven and a half minutes into the third, when Aaron Rome lost the puck to Hamilton's David Desharnais and came in all alone.

Desharnais whistled a wrister that was snagged by Dahm's quick glove to keep it a 1-0 game.

After Craig MacDonald's penalty negated a Crunch power play opportunity, that left the game in a 4-on-4 situation.

A Bulldogs point shot rocketed around the boards and lead to a 2-on-1 for the Crunch.

Mike York came in down the right side and feathered a pass under the outstretched stick of Dan Jancevski to Derek MacKenzie. MacKenzie sniped a shot high over the glove of Marc Denis to tie the game at 1-1 at the 9:17 mark.

That goal swung the game's momentum in Syracuse's favor, and the Crunch took advantage by snagging a 2-1 lead 4:19 later.

John Vigilante stole the puck from a Hamilton player in the offensive zone and threw a shot on net with traffic in front. Trevor Frischmon got a piece of it and the puck knuckled over the shoulder of Denis to give the Crunch its first lead of the game with just under six and a half minutes remaining in regulation.

Dahm made a point blank stop diving across the crease with just over a minute to play to seal the win for Syracuse. The Danish rookie netminder made 27 saves on the night.

CRUNCHABLES: Sebastian Dahm made his first start since January 17 vs. Hamilton and earned his first win since January 16 vs. Albany...Tonight was the first of a four straight road games for the Crunch...Syracuse won for the eighth time tonight when trailing after two periods.
