THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia lost 3-2 at Greensboro on Sunday afternoon. The Grasshoppers scored all three of their runs in the second inning off Power starter Buddy Borden on four hits. West Virginia plated its runs in the fifth on JaCoby Jones's fourth home run of the season and second of the series. The Power collected multiple hits in each inning between the second and fifth and had the tying run in scoring position in the sixth. Greensboro's bullpen combined to retire the final ten batters they faced to close out West Virginia. Borden took the loss while Domingo German picked up the win. James Wooster retired all six Power hitters he faced for the save. Five different West Virginia batters had two hits apiece.

CLOSE BUT NOT ENOUGH: West Virginia lost its eighth one-run game of the season on Sunday and fourth on this nine-game, seven day road trip. No other team in the league has played in as many one runs games. Lakewood has played in a league-low four one-run games, going 2-2. The Power are now 6-8 in games decided by one.

PIEDMONT PUSH: West Virginia concludes a four game series at Greensboro today. The Power and Grasshoppers have met 124 times since 2005 and West Virginia holds a 68-56 mark in the all-time series. In 2014, the clubs will play a total of 18 times, seven more of which will be played at NewBridge Bank Park, where the Power are 32-30 all-time.

STREAKING RIGHT ALONG: JaCoby Jones enters play on Monday with a six game hitting streak; the longest active streak for any player on the roster. Jones streak began in game one of West Virginia's second doubleheader in Kannapolis on Wednesday. Over the last six games, Jones has seven hits in 19 at bats, including three home runs, and has driven in seven. Only Erich Weiss (11 games) and Edwin Espinal (8) have had longer hitting streaks this season.

SETTLING IN: When the Power left Charleston on Tuesday for this road trip, the team batting average was .241 and the staff earned run average was 4.05. After play on Sunday, eight games later, the club's average was up to .261 thanks to 80 hits over 263 at bats on the trip. The staff ERA is down to 3.89 after 23 earned runs over 60.2 innings pitched, eight of which were allowed in Friday's loss at Greensboro.

NEARLY E FREE: The Power have committed 36 errors so far this season; sixth most in the South Atlantic League. During this road trip, however, the club has only committed three errors over 60 and two-thirds defensive innings with two of those three miscues coming in one game.

HERE AND GONE: The Pirates have activated Reese McGuire from West Virginia's Disabled List and transferred Francisco Diaz to the Jamestown roster. McGuire was placed on the DL retroactive to April 26 with a groin contusion. McGuire was batting .222 over 14 games played for the Power this season before going on this disabled list. Diaz has appeared in 12 games behind the plate and was hitting .262 prior to being transferred off the roster.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 7: West Virginia hosts Savannah on May 7 in their first Grand Slam School Day of the season. Gates will open at 9:00 am with a first pitch scheduled for 10:30.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is the only team in the league that has not played an extra inning game this season... Casey Sadler made his Major League debut for on Friday, pitching two scoreless innings for the Pirates against the Toronto Blue Jays at PNC Park and became the 38th former West Virginia Power player to reach the Majors and appear in a game... West Virginia's six May home runs are tied for second most in the SAL, behind only Lakewood and tied with Asheville. The BlueClaws and Tourists combined to hit seven home runs in their game against each other Sunday.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh fell 7-2 in the series finale against Toronto. The Pirates host open a three game series at home against San Francisco tonight... Indianapolis lost 3-2 at Pawtucket... Altoona rallied but could not beat Akron, falling 5-4. The Curve scored three in the seventh to tie the game, but the RubberDucks took the lead right back in the eighth off Joan Montero... Bradenton doubled up Fort Myers 4-2.
