June 9, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 9, 2011) - Winston-Salem State University head baseball coach Kevin Ritsche will provide color commentary on the television broadcast of the Dash's game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Friday night. The game can be seen on WXII's THIS Carolina channel beginning at 7 p.m.
After a 37-year hiatus for the baseball program at WSSU, Ritsche (pronounced like "Richie") led the Rams to a 30-25 record and a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championship in 2011. WSSU made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament, losing to Concord University.
Ritsche is no stranger to BB&T Ballpark, as the Rams played eight of their home games there this season. In addition to coaching the baseball team, Ritsche has also served as Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the WSSU Department of Human Performance and Sports Sciences since 2006. He played baseball as an undergraduate at St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and was an NAIA Baseball Honorable Mention All-American in 2004 after belting eight home runs with 48 RBI and posting a .688 slugging percentage.
