Kinston Indians News Release


Playoff Push - With 12 games remaining in the first half the Indians are 3.5 games out of first place. The K-Tribe will take on the first place Pelicans in a three game series starting Friday at Historic Grainger Stadium.

Hey Now, You're An.Ya You Know the Rest - Four Kinston Indians were named to the Carolina League All-Star Team Wednesday as Drew Pomeranz, Preston Guilmet, Justin Toole and Giovanni Soto were all voted onto the squad. Kinston Manager Aaron Holbert is also selected as a coach on the Carolina League All-Star Staff. The Carolina League All-Stars will take on the California League All-Stars on June 21st in Modesto, California (Soto will not make the trip to California because he is scheduled to pitch on the final day of the first half and will be unavailable).

The Hits Keep Coming - Kinston is on a stretch on three straight double digit hit games, including two 16 hit outbursts in this series against Wilmington. The only other time Kinston had a three game double digit hit streak was April 19th-21st. In fact, Kinston has reached the double digit hit mark in four of their last five and five of their last seven games. In those last seven games Kinston has banged out 85 hits (12.1 hits per game). Over the last seven games, Kinston has scored 42 runs (6 per game).

Running Away - Coming into their May 25th contest against Potomac, Kinston had not scored more than seven runs in a game this season. Counting their season high 13 run outburst against Potomac that day, Kinston has now scored eight or more runs seven times over the last 14 games.
