Baseball America Names Holbert Top Skipper

Kinston, NC - Baseball America has released its postseason classification All-Star teams, naming Kinston's Aaron Holbert the top skipper at the Advanced-A level. Holbert had previously been honored as the top skipper in the Carolina League in 2011. .

In his fourth season managing for a Cleveland Indians affiliate, Holbert's K-Tribe won the second half Carolina League Southern Division crown after falling two games short in the first half. The 2011 K-Tribe held the league's best record in one run games and had 34 come from behind wins. Kinston made its first trip to the Mills Cup Championship series since 2006. In 2010, Holbert led Kinston to the postseason with a 73-67 record. After retiring as a player in 2005, Holbert made his coaching debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2006. Kinston's skipper joined Cleveland's system in 2008 with the Lake County Captains, guiding the team to the South Atlantic League finals.

Fellow Cleveland farmhands Mike Sarbaugh (manager) and Jason Kipnis (second base) were honored by Baseball America at the AAA level.
