K-Tribe up for Two "MiLBY Awards"

Kinston, NC - The Kinston Indians and Preston Guilmet are nominees for 2011 "MiLBY Awards". The MiLBY Awards are recognition of the season's top performances as determined by MiLB.com and voted on by fans.

In the Class A Advanced category, the Indians are among seven teams vying for Best Team honors. The K-Tribe overcame a 2-8 start to reach the playoffs by winning the second half title, clinching a playoff berth on the penultimate day of the season. Kinston became 2011 Southern Division Champions my defeating the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in four games. The Frederick Keys emerged from the Mills Cup Championship Series victorious and are among the Indians competition in the "Best Team" category.

Kinston closer Preston Guilmet is nominated as the top relief pitcher among all Advanced-A bullpen arms. Guilmet finished the season with a 2.16 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings. The All-Star closer notched 35 saves, more than any other Class A Advanced reliever.

The Carolina League is represented in six of nine award categories with six nominations in total. Fans have until October 20 to vote on this year's MiLBY Awards by visiting http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/awards/y2011/playoftheyear.jsp.
