
Wranglers Streak Continues, Phoenix Wins Midnight Game In Shootout 5-4

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (19-2-3, 41 points) were edged by the Phoenix RoadRunners (9-12-5, 23 points) 5-4 in a shootout in front of 4,632 fans at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday morning. Phoenix goalie Dave McKee stopped 32 of 36 Las Vegas shots in regulation and then stuffed four out of five Wranglers in the shootout for the victory. Las Vegas forwards Brandon Kaleniecki, Peter Ferraro and Tyler Mosienko each scored in the defeat. Defenseman Tyson Strachan also tallied a goal, as Las Vegas moved to 15-0-3 in the last 18 games. Winger Aki Seitsonen had two assists in the loss. Phoenix forward Chris Stevens scored at 13:02 of the third period, tying the game and forcing overtime, followed by a shootout. Las Vegas will play in Idaho at 6:10 pm (PST) on Wednesday night.
In the first period, Phoenix center Daniel Sisca scored his sixth goal of the season for the 1-0 RoadRunners lead. Las Vegas answered back with two straight, as forward Brandon Kaleniecki and defenseman Tyson Strachan each scored, giving the Wranglers a 2-1 lead.
In the second period, right wing Peter Ferraro scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season at 6:03, extending the Wranglers lead to 3-1. Center Tyler Mosienko scored his eighth goal of the season ten-minutes later, pushing the Las Vegas lead to 4-1. Phoenix cut the Las Vegas lead in half at 4-2, as Gino Guyer scored with 1:55 left in the period.
The RoadRunners received third-period goals from Justin Maiser and Chris Stevens to tie the game 4-4. The teams played through a scoreless overtime, forcing a shootout. Phoenix goalie Dave McKee stopped four out of five Las Vegas attempts to pick up the win. Las Vegas goalie John Ceci stopped two of five in the shootout, taking the loss.
The team will then travel to Boise to face the Idaho Steelheads for three straight games, starting Wednesday night at 6:10 pm at Qwest Arena. The Wranglers will also meet the Steelheads on Friday and Saturday.
