Blades Teddy Bear Toss a success; Up next, The Holiday Food Drive

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce that their fans came through with flying colors during the annual "Teddy Bear Toss!" on December 15 at Germain Arena. When Ryan Van Buskirk scored midway through the first period, the fans showered the ice with 6,598 stuffed toys that will be donated through SW Florida.

This season the stuffed toys will help benefit several South West Florida youth organizations including Toys for Tots, The Lee County Sheriffs Department Youth Programs and Barbara's Friends. As in the past the Everblades players will hand deliver a portion of the stuffed toys to kids battling cancer at the Children's Hospital of South West Florida.

Up next for the Everblades is their annual holiday food drive on Friday, December 21 when the Everblades host the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. Harry Chapin Food Bank will have collection bins set up at each entrance of Germain Arena that night and fans are asked to donate either a non-perishable food item or make a cash donation to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Donations will be accepted throughout the entire game on Friday night.
