Inferno ride Ford to shutout of Lynx, 1-0

December 18, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

It was a goaltending duel on Tuesday at the James Brown Arena, as Lynx goaltender #30 Bobby Goepfert and Inferno goaltender Todd Ford decided to put on a show for the fans in Augusta.

From the get go, the Lynx once again had problems starting the game with positive momentum. Goepfert faced the first five shots of the game and made some spectacular save to keep the Inferno scoreless. Through one period the Inferno would outshot the Lynx 10-6.

The 2nd period saw more shots for both teams, and more great goaltending. However, it would be the Inferno striking first and Tyson Marsh scored his first goal of the season off a loose puck in front. Marsh swept in unmarked as Goepfert made the original save, but was runover by his own defenseman and left helpless to save the shot from Marsh, who put the puck over a sprawled Goepfert.

The Lynx almost tied the game on the penalty kill as #19 Aaron Slattengren fed the puck on a 2 on 1 across to a streaking #12 Adrian Veideman, but Veideman's redirection went straight down off the crossbar, bounced right in front of the goal line and dribbled away.

The 3rd period was all Lynx, but unfortunately for Augusta the final 20 minutes would not net a goal even though they outshot the Inferno 18-3 in the final frame.

This marks the first time this season the Lynx have been shutout in a game. Both teams were 0 for 4 on the power play.
