AUGUSTA, GA. (Dec. 18, 2007)-Todd Ford stopped all 36 shots faced and Tyson Marsh scored the game's only goal as the Columbia Inferno (10-11-4-2, 26 points) beat the Augusta Lynx (14-10-0-3, 31 points) 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Ford stopped all six shots in the first period, while his counterpart Bobby Goepfert turned aside the 10 he faced, as the two clubs ended the initial frame 0-0.

Marsh, with help from Daniel Sparre and Tyler Doig, notched his first goal of the season 12 minutes into the second period to give the Inferno their first goal-the only one the team would need. Ford did his part by stopping the 12 Lynx shots rifled his way.

Ford was a busy man for the third period, as he stopped all 18 Augusta shots to ensure Marsh's goal would be the game winner. The shutout was his second of the season. Goepfert finished with 26 saves on 27 shots. The win snaps the Inferno's four-game losing streak dating back to a 5-2 victory over Johnstown on Dec. 5.

The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Friday, Dec. 28 to host the Charlotte Checkers at 1:05 p.m. The American Red Cross will be sponsoring a blood drive on the concourse; fans can pre-register by visiting givelife.org.
