PLAYOFF PICTURE BEGINS TO TAKE SHAPE MARK YOUR CALENDER FOR THESE UPCOMING GAMES

With Bakersfields 6-2 victory over the Fresno Falcons on Monday night, the Wranglers magic number to clinch the Pacific Division, and #1 seed in the National Conference, has been reduced to one point. With two more points the Wranglers would also become the first team in ECHL history with three consecutive 100-point seasons.

Should the Wranglers wrap-up the # 1 seed in the conference they will face the # 8 seed in a best of seven series at the Orleans Arena. Currently Stockton, Bakersfield, and Phoenix are in a three-team race for the final two playoff spots. While schedules are not yet available for release, the Wranglers will play all home playoff games in the first round at the Orleans Arena.

MADILL SIGNS WITH MILWAUKEE IN AHL

The Las Vegas Wranglers announced on Monday that defenseman Mike Madill has signed a PTO with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Madill was assigned to Las Vegas on October 11th by the Quad City Flames. The 25-year old played in 65 games for Las Vegas, scoring four goals and adding ten assists for 14 points. Madill also posted a +6 and 46 penalty minutes.

Madill started this season in the Calgary Flames Training Camp, followed up by Quad Citys training camp. Madill appeared in both of the Flames first two games. He recorded an assist on Opening Night as the Flames beat Rockford 5-1.

Madill played seven games with the AHLs Houston Aeros last season. He recorded one point (an assist) during his inaugural stint in the AHL. Madill spent the majority of the 2006-07 season with the ECHLs Texas Wildcatters. He ranked ninth in scoring amongst ECHL defensemen with 43 points (four goals and 39 assists) last season. The 25-year old was named to the 2007 American Conference All-Star Team as a member of the Wildcatters. Prior to turning pro, Madill played four seasons at St. Lawrence University, three of them with former Wranglers goalie Mike McKenna. In 154 collegiate games, Madill scored 14 goals and added 49 assists for 63 points.

WRANGLERS ADD ROOKIE DEFENSEMAN JORGENSEN

The Las Vegas Wranglers announced on Thursday the signing of rookie defenseman Jim Jorgensen.

Jorgensen joins the Wranglers after four seasons at Ferris State University. For his college career, the Sault Ste. Marie native posted 30 assists and 38 points in 114 games. The 6-foot, 200-pounder defender also racked up 54 penalty minutes. As a sophomore in 2005-06, Jorgensen set collegiate highs and was the teams leading scorer among defensemen with 15 assists and 16 points in 32 games.

WRANGLERS WIN TWO OUT OF THE LAST THREE

The Las Vegas Wranglers (42-12-11, 94 Points) were shutout by the Alaska Aces (38-22-5, 81 Points) 3-0 on Thursday night in front of 4,386 fans at the Orleans Arena. Alaskas Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped all 29 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season with the Aces. Forwards F.P. Guenette, Josh Soares and Bo Cheesman each scored in the Alaska win.

The Las Vegas Wranglers (42-12-11, 96 Points) defeated the Alaska Aces (38-23-5, 81 Points) 4-3 on Friday night in front of 7,427 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forward Aki Seitsonen completed the hat trick with 16-seconds remaining to lift Las Vegas over Alaska. Forward Peter Ferraro also scored as the team lowered its magic number down to seven to clinch the National Conference and Pacific Division. Goalie Daniel Manzato stopped 20 of 23 Aces shots, improving to 23-5-6. Alaskas Chris Beckford-Tseu had a shutout string of 107:30 ended in the loss, stopping 24 of 28 Wranglers shots.

The Las Vegas Wranglers (43-12-11, 98 Points) defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners (22-35-9, 53 Points) 4-1 on Sunday night in front of 4,575 fans at the Orleans Arena. Left wing Nathan Barrett scored twice as Las Vegas improved to 9-0-1 against Phoenix this season. Defenseman Aaron Power had three assists in the win. Forwards Aki Seitsonen and Adam Miller also scored as Las Vegas lowered its magic number to three points to clinch the National Conference and Pacific Division. Goalie Kevin Lalande held the RoadRunners scoreless for 58:33 before his shutout bid was spoiled by Ryan Walsh. Lalande stopped 25 of 26 shots, improving to 15-5-4 on the season. The Wranglers moved to within two points of the teams third consecutive 100-point season. No other team in the ECHL has ever recorded three straight 100 point seasons.
