Royals Rookie Murray Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Reading rookie John Murray is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 17-23.

Signed by Reading on Mar. 17, the 6-foot-1 and 206-pound Murray was 2-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average and a .985 save percentage as the Royals went 2-0-0 to remain in the battle for second place in the North Division.

The 20 year old began his professional career by stopping all 38 shots he faced to record his first shutout with a 2-0 road win against second-place Elmira on Mar. 21 and then turned aside 27 of 28 shots in a 3-1 win against Trenton on Mar. 22.

The Lancaster, Pa. native has played each of the last two years in the Ontario Hockey League where he was 52-24-4 with five shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .905 in 86 regular season games for Kitchener and Kingston.

Runners Up: Bobby Goepfert, Augusta (2-0-0, 0.43 GAA, .979 save pct.) and Kellen Briggs, Idaho (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .960 save pct.).
