Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release

PENSACOLA, FL - Adrian Veideman scored the only goal of the game with just 16.3 seconds left in overtime on the power play as the Augusta Lynx shut out the Ice Pilots 1-0 on Tuesday night at the Pensacola Civic Center.

Eerily similar to last night, the two teams played another 40 minutes of scoreless hockey as it was Brodeur again for the Ice Pilots and Bobby Goepfert got the start for visiting Augusta. Instead though, this game would continue scoreless throughout the third period and head into overtime.

The Ice Pilots had a late successful third period penalty kill, not allowing a shot to Augusta. In overtime, Augusta was given their fifth power play of the game and they were able to convert. Veideman fired a shot from the high slot past Brodeur and the Lynx took the 1-0 win.

The Ice Pilots earn a point on the over time loss. Brodeur made 33 saves for Pensacola while Goepfert stopped all 28 Ice Pilots shots for the shut out. The two teams split the season series, each finishing with 3-2-1 records.

The Ice Pilots next opponent will be the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at the Hangar. It will be the 10th meeting of the season between the two clubs.
