Phoenix's Smith Suspended One Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that it has suspended Phoenix left wing Jeff Smith for one game, under the provisions of ECHL Rule 47.20, as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #556 at Las Vegas on Mar. 23.

Smith was assessed a minor penalty for instigating at 4:41 of the third period.

Rule 23.4 states that "any player who incurs a total of three (3) penalties for instigator infractions penalized under Rule 47 - Fisticuffs, shall be suspended automatically for the next game of his team. For each subsequent instigator penalty, the automatic suspension shall be increased by one (1) game."

Smith will miss Phoenix's game at Alaska (Mar. 26).
