Wranglers Kelly and Cousineau to showcase All-Star skills Tuesday

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today winger Justin Kelly and defenseman Dave Cousineau will participate in Tuesday night's 2004 ECHL Par-a-Dice All-Star Skills Competition. The skills competition will take place at 7:00 pm at Carver Arena in Peoria, Illinois on January 20th. The 2004 ECHL Par-A-Dice All-Star game will be played on Wednesday, January 21st at 7:30 pm.

Cousineau will take part in the KOHO Hardest Shot competition. The Wranglers rookie defenseman is second among ECHL defenseman with seven power-play goals. Cousineau is fourth on the Wranglers with 86 shots on goal in 36 games played. The Wranglers defenseman will join fellow Western Conference All-Stars Troy Gillam (Gwinnett), Ben Storey (Louisiana) and Corey Neilson (Pensacola). Each player will get two attempts. The ECHL record for the hardest shot was set by Augusta's Jaroslav Obsut with a blast of 99.3 mph at the 1999 ECHL All-Star skills competition in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Justin Kelly will compete in three events on Tuesday night starting with the ITECH Rapid Fire Competition. Kelly will team up with Alaska's Charles Linglet taking shots at Atlantic City's Scott Stirling. Each shooter will get five chances to beat the goaltender. Kelly will also participate in the accuracy competition against Columbus' J.F. Plourde and Mississippi's Steffon Walby of the Western Conference. The shooters will take up to eight passes in the slot shooting at four targets set up in each corner of the net. The shooter who hits the most targets in the least amount of attempts wins the event. In 1999, Dave Seitz of South Carolina set the record in the shooting accuracy when he broke all four targets in five shots. Kelly is second on the Wranglers with 12 goals in 30 games. The rookie winger has the second best shooting percentage on the Wranglers at 18.5%.

Both Wranglers will participate in the ITECH Breakaway Relay. Cousineau will face Trenton's Chris Houle in the final event of the night. Kelly will go head-to-head with Stirling for the second time in the evening. The Breakaway Relay puts five shooters from each conference against a goalie from the opposite conference. The conference with the highest amount of goals wins the competition.

Las Vegas heads to Bakersfield to take on the Condors at 7:00 pm this Saturday before the All-Star Break. The Wranglers return home to the Orleans Arena on January 27th when they host the San Diego Gulls at 7:05 pm.
