Rivermen Left Wing Rowe Selected as Eastern Conference Captain for 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Gam

Peoria, Ill. (January 16, 2004) – The ECHL announced today that Peoria Rivermen third-year left wing Randy Rowe has been selected as the Captain for the Eastern Conference for the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game to be held in Peoria on Wednesday, January 21. Rowe was selected to the first All-Star game of his career on December 18, 2003.

Rowe and will join Mississippi's Steffon Walby as an All-Star Captain. Walby will captain the Western Conference squad.

Rowe – a 6-foot, 198-pound native of Burford, Ontario – will participate in the Hardest Shot Contest during the Skills Competition on Wednesday, January 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. He will also be one of two passers in the Accuracy Shooting Contest. In the 2003 ECHL All-Star Skills Competition, Rivermen center Tyler Rennette won the Hardest Shot Contest with a 95 mph slap shot.

The 23-year-old Rowe leads the Rivermen in goals (24), game-winning goals (7), power play goals (7), shorthanded goals (3), shorthanded points (4), overall points (42) and plus/minus (+15). The 23-year-old Burford, Ontario native is tied for the ECHL lead in goals and game-winning goals, is tied for third in shorthanded goals, is tied for fourth in shorthanded points, and is tied for 12th in League in points.

Sponsored by the Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino and hosted by the Peoria Rivermen, the 12th Annual ECHL All-Star Game & Skills Competition will be held at the 9,919-seat Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Ill. The Skills Competition will be at 7:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday, January 20 and the game will be played at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, January 21. The Rivermen – a member of the ECHL, America's Premier "AA" Hockey League – face off against the rival Johnstown Chiefs tonight and tomorrow at Carver Arena. Game time tonight is 7:05 p.m. and special game time tomorrow is 8:00 p.m.
