Corazzini Becomes 235th ECHL Player In NHL

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Atlantic City center Carl Corazzini became the 235th ECHL player to advance to the National Hockey League when he made his debut with Boston on Thursday. Corazzini played 22 shifts, had one shot and won his only face off in the Bruins 1-0 win at Buffalo.

Prior to being called up by Boston on Wednesday, the 24-year-old Corazzini led the American Hockey League with four shorthand goals and led Providence with 12 goals while ranking third on the team in scoring with 18 points (12g-6a) in 36 games. In his last seven games with Providence, Corazzini scored seven points (6g-1a) including three shorthand goals, two power-play goals and two game-winning goals.

Signed as a free agent by the Bruins on August 8, 2001, the 5-10 and 170-pound Corazzini scored 21 points (13g-8a) in 27 games with Atlantic City in 2002-03. Born in Framingham, Mass., Corazzini also played for Providence in 2002-03 scoring 13 points (7g-6a) in 33 regular season games while also appearing in four postseason games. In 2001-02 with Providence, Corazzini scored 15 points (7g-8a) in 61 games.

There have been 20 players in 2003-04 that have made their first NHL appearance since playing in the ECHL. Corazzini becomes the 19th ECHL player to make his NHL debut in 2003-04 joining Johnathan Aitken (Chicago on November 26), Ryan Barnes (Detroit on December 15), Darryl Bootland (Detroit on November 8), Garrett Burnett (Anaheim on October 8), Andrew Hutchinson (Nashville on October 18), Boyd Kane (Philadelphia on October 16), Patrick Leahy (Boston on December 6), Steve McLaren (St. Louis on December 16), Jason MacDonald ( New York Rangers on December 12), Pat Rissmiller (San Jose on November 13), Nathan Robinson (Detroit on November 28), Michael Ryder (Montreal on October 9), Dany Sabourin (Calgary on October 29), Rob Skrlac (New Jersey on December 13), Rastislav Stana (Washington on November 14), Mike Stuart (St. Louis on October 24), Darcy Verot (Washington on January 1), and Jeremy Yablonski (St. Louis on December 30). Travis Brigley, who played for Macon of the ECHL in 2001-02, played for Colorado on October 26.
