Wranglers host Idaho Tuesday night for game one

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers posted a 3-0-0 record for the week starting with a 7-1 victory Tuesday night in Phoenix at the U.S. Airways Center. Friday night, the Wranglers defeated Long Beach 4-2 at the Orleans Arena. Saturday night, Las Vegas ended the regular season with a 4-3 win over Phoenix.

This Tuesday, Las Vegas will begin a best-of-seven First Round Match-up with the Idaho Steelheads in the West Division Semi-Finals. The puck drops at 7:05 pm for Game One on Tuesday. Wednesday's Game Two is also scheduled for a 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena. Games Three and Four are set for 6:10 pm (PST) in Boise, Idaho at the QWEST Arena on Friday, April 14th and Saturday, April 15th. If necessary, Game Five will take place on Monday, April 17th at 6:10 pm at QWEST Arena. Also, if necessary, Games Six and Seven will take place at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday, April 18th and Wednesday, April 19th.

Las Vegas 7 at Phoenix 1

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Phoenix Roadrunners 7-1 at the U.S. Airways Arena on Tuesday night. Las Vegas forward Chris Neiszner scored two goals in ten seconds during the third period as the Wranglers won their final road game of the season and their seventh straight road game overall. Forwards Nick Anderson, Sean O'Connor, Steve Crampton, Charles Linglet and Matt Dzieduszycki each scored as Las Vegas finished the regular season with a 25-8-3 road record. Winger Shawn Limpright returned from the injured reserve list with three assists on the night. Goalie Mike McKenna made 20 saves, moving to 18-2-1 on the season.

Long Beach 2 at Las Vegas 4

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-2 on Friday night in front of 6,832 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' forward Todd Alexander scored twice and defenseman Scott Schoneck added a goal and an assist in the win. Goalie Marc Magliarditi made 33 saves for his career-high 34th win of the season.

Phoenix 3 at Las Vegas 4

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners 4-3 on Saturday night in front of 7,206 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forward Chris Neiszner picked up a goal and an assist as Las Vegas finished the season 53-13-6 (112 points). Forwards Sean O'Connor and Matt Dzieduszycki each dished out two assists in the victory. Goalie Mike McKenna made 31 saves for his 19th win of the season. The Wranglers 112 points are the third highest total in ECHL history.

Gulutzan Named ECHL Coach of the Year

The ECHL announced on Sunday that Glen Gulutzan of the Las Vegas Wranglers is the 2005-06 recipient of the John Brophy Award (Coach of the Year).

The only coach in Wranglers history, Gulutzan led his team to a 53-13-6 record and a second place finish overall with 112 points. The Wranglers tied the 1999-2000 Florida Everblades and the 2005-06 Alaska Aces for the second-most wins in ECHL history and finished with the third-highest point total in league history. The Wranglers tied the ECHL record for longest road-winning streak with 10 consecutive wins from Nov. 22-Dec. 31 and tied the third-longest winning streak in league history with 12 wins in a row from Dec. 3-30. Las Vegas set team records with 53 wins, 28 home wins and 25 road wins. Gulutzan led the Wranglers to a 42-point increase from the 2004-05 season. This season, Las Vegas set over 50 new team records. For his success this season, Gulutzan was named Head Coach of the National Conference All-Star Team at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game in Fresno.

Wranglers Set Season Record for Attendance

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Wranglers' paid attendance of 7,206 on Saturday Night brought the 2005-06 regular season total attendance to 199,131 over 36 home dates, an average of 5,531. It marks the third consecutive season the Wranglers have increased its paid attendance since the inaugural 2003-04 season. The Wranglers averaged 4,981 and 5,193 in 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively.

This Week's Opponents-

Idaho Steelheads - (43-21-9, 94 Points) - Las Vegas posted 5-1-1 record against Idaho this season, including a 3-0-1 mark at the Orleans Arena. Idaho's offense is ranked third best in the ECHL and is led by D'Arcy McConvey and Garett Bembridge. McConvey is currently with the AHL's Iowa Stars, while Bembridge just returned from Portland of the AHL.
