San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have announced that center Alex Kim has been named the Jewelry Designs by Stuart Benjamin & Company and Kristy's MVP Player of the Month for March. Kim was also honored with this award in December. Kim will be presented the award in a special pre-game ceremony before Saturday night's playoff match with the Fresno Falcons.

After missing 31 games with a broken collar bone, Kim played in only four games in March but still ended the month tied with Mike Falk for the team lead in plus-minus (+5) and finished second in goals (4) and points (11). Kim also finished behind only Grady Moore for the team lead in assists (7).

The 26-year-old from Fullerton, Calif. had at least two points in all four games. In addition, the center carried a 12 game point streak into the month, and extended it to a career-high 16 games.

Overall, despite only playing in 24 games with San Diego, Kim had 38 points (16g, 22a), which ranked him fourth on the club. He also led the team with a +17 and three short-handed goals.

In 192 professional games, Kim has notched 170 points (75g, 95a) and 149 penalty minutes. In 152 career games in the ECHL, he has registered 138 points (65g, 73a) and 139 penalty minutes.
