Weiman, McLeod Back From Lowell; Mayotte Loaned to Lock Monsters

FRESNO, Calif. - The San Diego Gulls, who finalized their playoff roster Monday, got some key players back from the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters. Goaltender Tyler Weiman and left-winger Cody McLeod were both re-assigned to San Diego and are expected to be in the lineup Tuesday in Game 1 against the Fresno Falcons. David Svagrovsky is expected to be assigned from Lowell later in the series.

Meanwhile, rookie netminder Kris Mayotte was loaned to Lowell and both Aaron McKenzie and Erik Johnson were released. Dennis Shiryaev was released Saturday. Other moves that affects San Diego's roster were the additions of R.J. Enga and Mark Adamek to the seven-day injured reserve slots.

That leaves the Gulls with 19 active skaters heading into their best-of-seven Pacific Division Semifinal series against Fresno. Games 1 and 2 will be Tuesday and Wednesday in Fresno (both starting at 7:30 p.m.) before shifting back to San Diego for Games 3, 4 and if necessary 5.

Weiman just completed his third stint in Lowell this season and ended up going 6-6-1 with a 2.56 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in 14 total appearances. He was 14-12-3 with a 2.81 GAA, .910 save percentage and one shutout in 32 appearances for the Gulls during the regular season.

McLeod appeared in 33 games for the Lock Monsters this season, recording nine points (4g, 5a) and 87 penalty minutes. In 16 games with San Diego, he also notched nine points (4g, 5a) and 48 penalty minutes. McLeod made his pro debut last season with Adirondack of the United Hockey League after spending four full years in juniors.

Svagrovsky has registered one assist and 15 penalty minutes in 23 games with Lowell this season. In 26 games for the Gulls, he notched eight points (3g, 5a) and 33 penalty minutes.

Mayotte, who recently completed his collegiate tenure at Union College, was 2-1-1 with San Diego with a 2.69 GAA and .931 save percentage. He will remain with the Lock Monsters for their final four regular season games.
