
Wranglers Fall to Roadrunners 6-5 In a Shootout

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (4-1-7, 15 points) were defeated by the Phoenix Roadrunners (7-6-0, 14 points) 6-5 in shootout at the U.S. Airways Center on Tuesday night. Roadrunners center Scott May scored with eight seconds remaining in regulation to cap off a four-goal rally and force overtime. Phoenix goalie Kevin Reiter stopped all four Wranglers in the shootout for the win. Wranglers center Aki Seitsonen scored twice in the defeat as Las Vegas fell to 1-5 in shootouts this season. Forwards Steve Crampton, Derek Edwardson and Tyler Mosienko each scored in the defeat. The Wranglers head to Alaska to take on the Aces at 8:15 pm (PST) on Thursday night in Anchorage.
In the first period, Las Vegas jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead netting two goals in the first minute of play. Off the opening face-off, the Wranglers worked the puck deep into the Phoenix zone. Shawn Limpright fired a pass from the left-wing corner to Steve Crampton in front of the net. Crampton scored his fifth goal of the season at 0:12 for the 1-0 lead. Just 43-seconds later, Aki Seitsonen knocked in a rebound off a Tyler Mosienko shot to lift the Wranglers to a 2-0 lead. Center Derek Edwardson extended the Las Vegas lead to three when he scored his third goal of the season at 18:02.
In the second period, Lance Monych scored at 3:46 to cut the Wranglers lead to 3-1. Las Vegas countered with 1:21 remaining in the period, as winger Nick Anderson carried the puck into the Phoenix zone, firing a shot on net. Mosienko tipped in the rebound to help the Wranglers extend their lead to 4-1 after two periods of play.
In the third period, Phoneix charged back into the game as Monych and Justin Aikins scored 35-seconds apart to bring the Roadrunners to within a goal at 4-3. Las Vegas jumped back to a 5-3 lead when Seitsonen scored his second goal of the night, this time on the power play at 13:31. The Roadrunners clawed back to cut the Las Vegas lead back to one at 5-4 when defenseman Alexandre Rouleau scored at 14:53. Roadrunners leading scorer Scott May scored a goal with ten seconds remaining to force overtime with the teams tied 5-5.
After a scoreless overtime, the Roadrunners took the shootout 2-0. Phoenix Kevin Reiter stopped all four shooters in the shootout as Phoenix took the game 6-5.
Las Vegas will return home on Sunday, November 26th at 5:05 pm to face the Bakersfield Condors at the Orleans Arena. The first 2,000 fans receive a Mullet Wig with a pink headband.
