Wheeling's Franck Named Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Andy Franck of the Wheeling Nailers is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 6-12.

In his second professional season, the 25-year-old was 2-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .974, stopping 75 of 77 shots.

Playing back-to-back games at Cincinnati, he stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 3-1 win on Friday and then made a career-high 51 saves in a 2-1 win on Saturday, allowing the Nailers to post their first consecutive road wins of the season. Franck has played in every one of Wheeling's first 10 games and is 4-6-0 with a goals-against average of 3.45 and a save percentage of .903.

In his rookie season in 2005-06, Franck was selected to the ECHL All-Star Game and named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team while finishing third in voting for both the ECHL Rookie of the Year and the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Year.

He tied for the league lead with five shutouts and was 33-15-5, setting team records with 33 wins and 55 appearances. Frank was second in the ECHL with a goals-against average of 2.28 and 3,214 minutes and finished fifth with 1,378 saves. He was named ECHL Saver of the Month for April after going 4-1-0 with a goals-against average of 2.04 and a save percentage of .928 to help the Nailers finish second in the North Division at 45-21-6.

In the Kelly Cup Playoffs, he was 5-4 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.93 and a save percentage of .909 while starting all nine games for the Nailers, who were eliminated in the division finals.

Runners Up: Dave McKee, Augusta (3-1-0, 2.94 GAA, .906 save pct.) and Craig Kowalski, Florida (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .973 save pct.).
