Ice Dogs' Proulx Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Long Beach Ice Dogs defenseman Gabriel Proulx is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 6-12, 2006.

Playing four games in five nights, the 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Proulx had a team-leading five assists and seven points as the Ice Dogs went 2-1-1. After having a season-high two goals and three points in a 4-3 win against Phoenix on Wednesday, he registered an assist in back-to-back games before having two assists, including on the game-winning goal, in a 7-6 overtime win against Las Vegas on Sunday.

The 24-year-old has a six-game assist streak (7a) and a six-game scoring streak (2g-7a) and is tied for second among ECHL defensemen with 11 points and tied for third with nine assists. He leads the Ice Dogs in assists and is tied for second in scoring.

Proulx had 33 points (7g-26a) and 72 penalty minutes in 53 games and helped Sherbrooke capture the League North American Hockey championship in 2005-06. In his rookie season in 2003-04, the 24-year-old had 13 points (3g-10a) and 92 penalty minutes in 49 regular season games and two assists in nine playoff games with Laredo in the Central Hockey League. He played in the United Hockey League in 2004-05 where he had three points (2g-1a) and 16 penalty minutes in 12 games for Flint and 35 points (11g-24a) and 98 penalty minutes in 66 games for Port Huron.

On behalf of Gabriel Proulx, a case of pucks will be donated to a Long Beach area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 15,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
