Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Todd Griffith scored the go-ahead goal early in the third, and the clincher into an empty net late, to lead the Bakersfield Condors to a 3-1 win over the Utah Grizzlies Tuesday, before 8,124 at Rabobank Arena, the Condors largest crowd of the season.

The game was tied 1-1 after two, but Griffith broke the deadlock 8:01 into the final stanza, off a setup from Sean Venedam and Kevin St. Jacques. Griffith's first shot was stopped by goaltender Rob McVicar, but his second attempt flipped high in the air, deflected off a Utah defenseman and came down across the goal line to put Bakersfield (6-4-1) ahead.

Late in the game, after the Grizzlies (3-7-2) pulled McVicar for an extra skater, Griffith came up with a loose puck in center ice, and from just outside the Utah blueline, found the vacated net for the clincher. He has now scored in each of the three games he has played for Bakersfield, and has four overall.

Danny Taylor stopped 26 of 27 shots for the first win of his professional career.

The Condors tied it up late in the first period by charging the net. Andrew Ianiero and Joel Irving worked the puck loose, and Brett Lutes was there to put it home for his fourth goal of the season.

Utah struck first just 1:18 into the game, when Ryan Kinasewich banged home a rebound of Eric Nelson's sharp angle shot.

Nearly 5,200 students were in the crowd as part of the Condors Field Trip Day promotion.

Notes: Danny Stewart was activated for his first professional game. David Kudelka was moved from the 3-day IR to the 7-day IR. Alex Rogosheske was placed on the 3-day IR. Marty Raymond is one victory away from becoming the winningest coach in Bakersfield history. He will accomplish the feat having coached the fewest games in franchise history. The Condors are 2-4-0 at home and 3-0-1 on the road. With Tuesday's crowd of 8,124, the Condors have packed in 42,966 in seven games for an average of 6,138.
