Pac-10 Names Sabatino Associate Commissioner

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Pacific-10 Conference announced Tuesday that it has hired Scott Sabatino as Associate Commissioner for Business and Finance.

Serving as the chief financial officer for the Pac-10 and as a member of the Conference's executive management team, Sabatino will be responsible for the financial business affairs and operational areas of the Pac-10 as well as directing and overseeing the Conference budget.

"No single individual has worked harder or contributed more on behalf of the ECHL over the past decade than Scott Sabatino," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "The Pac-10 is gaining a valuable and dedicated individual. On behalf of the ECHL and all our member teams we wish Scott much success in his new responsibilities."

Sabatino has been with the ECHL for 12 seasons, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the last six years. He joined the league in 1995-96 and previously served as Director of Finance/Administration, Director of Business Operations and Senior Vice President of Business Operations. He oversaw the business operations for the ECHL and its entities while closely working with team ownership and management on risk management programs, monitoring and analysis of team financial operations, league-wide scheduling, and other league programs.

Prior to joining the ECHL, Sabatino worked at Coopers & Lybrand in Boston and at the Boston Garden. He earned a master's degree in sports management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Northeastern University.

The Pacific-10 Conference has a tradition as the "Conference of Champions" as evidenced by its 138 NCAA team titles in 24 different men's and women's sports during the past 16 seasons. The Pac-10 led the nation with nine NCAA team titles in 2005-06 giving it a total of 351 NCAA championships since it began in 1916. Stanford won its 12th consecutive United State Sports Academy Directors' Cup, presented each year to the best overall college athletics program, in 2005-06. The Pac-10 is comprised of Arizona, Arizona State, California, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Southern California, UCLA, Washington, and Washington State and it sponsors 11 men's sports and 11 women's sports.
