Former 'Blade Larman makes NHL debut

ESTERO, FL - Former Florida Everblades center Drew Larman made his National Hockey League debut with the Florida Panthers on Monday night at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, in a 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals. Larman skated 18 shifts for the Panthers and won five of eight face-offs.

Larman is the 12th former Everblade to skate in the NHL and is the 306th player to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL and the third to play his first NHL game this season, joining former ECHL All-Star goaltender Mike Smith and former Toledo goaltender Joey MacDonald.

The 21-year-old began his professional career in 2005-06 with the Everblades and had four penalty minutes in six games before being called up to Rochester of the American Hockey League where he had 15 points (7g-8a) and 24 penalty minutes in 44 games. He returned to Florida for the Kelly Cup Playoffs and had six points (4g-2a) and four penalty minutes in eight games. Larman has seven points (5g-2a) in 11 games for Rochester this season.

The Buffalo, NY native joins Keith Aucoin, Eric Boulton, Shane Hnidy, Greg Koehler, Greg Kuznik, Chad LaRose, Brett Lysak, Eric Manlow, Jason Morgan, Remi Royer and Damian Surma as former Everblades players that have played in the NHL.
