
Wotton To Play 1,000th Pro Game

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (April 10, 2010) - Bridgeport Sound Tigers' team captain, Mark Wotton will play in his 1,000th career professional game on Saturday, April 10 when the Sound Tigers take on the Manchester Monarchs at Arena at Harbor Yard.
The Sound Tigers will honor Wotton with a pre-game ceremony on Sunday when the team takes on the Hartford Wolf Pack. Islanders' General Manager Garth Snow will be on hand to present Wotton with various gifts to commemorate the milestone.
Wotton joined the Sound Tigers at the start of the 2006-07 season. That same year, he finished with 33 points (nine goals and 24 assists) in 78 games, his best season to date with the organization. The Sound Tiger defenseman was also named the team Man of the Year for all of his work in the Southern Connecticut community. Throughout his four years with the Sound Tigers, Wotton has compiled 19 goals and 81 assists for 100 points in 294 games.
A native of Foxwarren, Manitoba, Wotton was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the tenth round (237th overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Wotton played five years within the Canucks' organization, splitting time with both Vancouver and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. With the Crunch, Wotton tallied 40 goals and 124 assists for 164 points in 310 career games. With the Canucks, Wotton played in a total of 42 games and finished with three goals and six assists for nine career NHL points.
The following season, Wotton played 70 games for the Michigan K-Wings before joining the Dallas Stars organization in 2000. For the next four seasons, Wotton played for the Utah Grizzlies who were a part of the International Hockey League before joining the AHL in the 2001-02 season. He played in a total of 212 games for the Grizzlies and accumulated 79 points (20 goals and 49 assists).
After the NHL lockout, Wotton joined the Hershey Bears where he won his first career Calder Cup. In 69 games for the Bears, Wotton scored seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points. In the playoffs, Wotton played through a separated shoulder, scoring four assists in 14 games.
