
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons in Overtime 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 in overtime Friday evening in front of 10,125 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Steven Kampfer, Jeff LoVecchio and Kirk MacDonald.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead at the 11:46 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Chris Minard tallied his 19th goal of the season, while Jordan Eberle and Chad Wiseman recorded the assists. Springfield led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 3:11 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Jeff Penner worked the puck to Jordan Knackstedt, who passed it along to Kampfer. He scored from the top of the left face-off circle, his first goal of the season. Springfield retook the lead at the 15:52 mark. Ryan O'Marra netted his 11th goal of the season, while Liam Reddox and Viacheslav Trukhno picked up the assists. The Falcons led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
Providence tied the game at the 11:43 mark of the third period. LoVecchio started with the puck in his own end, before skating down the ice and pushing the puck into the net for his 14th goal of the season. The goal was unassisted. The game went into overtime tied at two.
In overtime the P-Bruins scored at the 22 second mark to take the victory. Jeff Penner fed the puck to Kampfer, who pushed it up ahead to MacDonald. He backhanded the puck into the net top shelf to give the P-Bruins the victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 26 of 28 shots for the P-Bruins, while Olivier Roy made 30 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 1-for-6 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins wrap up the regular season with a pair of road games Saturday at the DCU Center against the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at the Tsongas Arena versus the Lowell Devils at 4:00 p.m. Information on P-Bruins 2010-11 season tickets can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
