Down East Wood Ducks News Release

Kinston, N.C. - After two first inning rain delays, the Down East Wood Ducks and Salem Red Sox were suspended Friday night, in a scoreless game in the bottom of the first inning.

The game will resume Friday at 5 p.m. and will be finished in its entirety with a second seven-inning contest due to follow. Gates will open at 4:40 p.m.

John King made the start for the Woodies. He recorded a strikeout and a groundout to start the ballgame, before the skies opened and the tarp was put on the field after just four minutes of play. The game resumed 16minutes later, and King picked up a second strikeout to finish the top of the first. In the home half of the inning, Yonny Hernandez led off for the Wood Ducks and saw two pitches from Daniel Gonzalez before the rain returned and tarp was brought back onto the field for good.

It will be Mother Earth Friday, with postgame fireworks following the action, presented by WNCT. The broadcast will begin at 4:50 p.m. on 960 AM The Bull, and online at 960thebull.com as well as on the MiLB First Pitch and TuneIn Radio Apps.
