ERIE, Pa. - A two-out, walk-off single by Bryan Holaday off reliever Michael Dubee catapulted the Erie SeaWolves to a,3-2, win over the Altoona Curve on Opening Night at Jerry Uht Park. Altoona had battled back to tie the game at two with a two-run double by Quincy Latimore in the eighth inning before Erie won it in the ninth.

Dubee (0-1), who struck out the side in the eighth, came back to start the ninth and got Rawley Bishop to ground out to start the frame. Michael Bertram singled off of Dubee to put the winning run on and was then pinch-run for by Justin Henry with one down. Henry stole second and then moved to third on a groundout by Francisco Martinez to set up the game-winning hit by Holaday.

Erie's Jacob Turner was the story on Thursday night as the 19-year-old left in line for the win after six innings of two-hit, shutout baseball. The St. Charles, Mo. native walked one Curve batter and struck out nine in his Double-A debut. He retired the last nine batters he faced before giving way to his bullpen in the seventh inning.

Altoona had its first scoring opportunity in the second inning when Tony Sanchez singled to start the frame. After a Miles Durham fly out, Latimore doubled inside the bag at third to move Sanchez to third with just one down. Turner settled down and then struck out Jeremy Farrell and Eric Fryer to end the inning and the threat.

The ‘Wolves struck first in the game against Curve starter Bryan Morris in the fifth when Morris walked Deik Scram before issuing a two-run homer to Ben Guez. Morris lasted 4.1 innings and gave up the two runs on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

Anthony Claggett, Aaron Pribanic, Jared Hughes and Dubee went on to retire 11 straight batters after Morris departed before Bertram's ‘single in the ninth to keep the game close.

The Curve's eighth-inning rally began with back-to-back walks of Brock Holt and Starling Marte by SeaWolves reliever Matt Hoffman. Lester Oliveros (1-0) was summoned to pitch to Jordy Mercer with two on and no out and Mercer put down a textbook sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. After a Sanchez walk to load the bases and a Durham fly out, Latimore delivered with his game-tying double.

Latimore led the team with his two hits while Sanchez and Farrell each added hits of their own.

Altoona (0-1) will match up with Erie (1-0) in the second game of the four-game series at 6:35 p.m. Friday night from Jerry Uht Park. LHP Jeff Locke, who went 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA in the playoffs last year for Altoona, get the starting nod for the Curve while L.J. Gagnier starts for Erie.
