'Wolves Take Series from Aeros with 6-2 Win on Sunday

The SeaWolves, in front of 5,136 fans at Jerry Uht Park on Sunday night, took down the Akron Aeros 6-2 taking the series and improving back to two games over .500.

The SeaWolves struck for a five-spot in the top of the first inning against Akron starter Austin Adams. Jamie Johnson and Gustavo Nunez led off with back-to-back singles. With two outs, Rawley Bishop doubled home both runners putting the 'Wolves ahead 2-0. It was the 18th double of the season for Bishop. Michael Bertram singled home Bishop for a 3-0 lead. Justin Henry followed with his third triple, plating Bertram for a 4-0 Erie edge. Henry scored on a balk making it 5-0 SeaWolves after one.

Erie took a 6-0 lead in the fifth. Bertram led off with a double and scored on a two-out double off the wall from Bryan Holaday.

The Aeros got on the board, breaking up the Erie shutout bid in the top of the seventh against Erie starter Jay Voss. Nick Weglarz led off with a single and Chun Chen connected on his eighth home run. The opposite-field blast made it a 6-2 game.

Voss (4-3) earned the win allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings of work with a walk while tying a career-high with eight strikeouts.

Robbie Weinhardt tossed the final two innings of the game preserving the Erie win.

The SeaWolves will head to Harrisburg to begin an eight-game road trip on Monday night.7:00 First Pitch. RHP Mark Sorensen (7-5, 5.85 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Brad Peacock (9-2, 2.14 ERA).
