Wolves Roster Continues to Change

October 21, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned defenseman MARK POPOVIC (POP-uh-vihk) to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Wolves have assigned right wing GUILLAUME DESBIENS (ghee-OHM day-BYEHN) to the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators.

The Wolves have had 22 transactions this month - including eight with Atlanta - after experiencing just nine in the first three weeks of October last year. In 2003-04, the National Hockey League's last season, Chicago underwent just five roster changes during that span.

POPOVIC, who was recalled by Atlanta on Oct. 15, went scoreless in two games with the Thrashers.

The 23-year-old blueliner has tallied a power-play goal and an assist in three games with the Wolves this year, matching his entire goal total from last season.

DESBIENS was held scoreless in his professional debut with the Wolves on Oct. 7 against the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, the only game he suited up for this season.

Last season, the 20-year-old forward led the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 206 penalty minutes. He ranked fourth on the team with a career-high 27 goals and sixth with a career-most 43 points in 56 games.
