Moose recall Jeff Smith from Columbia

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have recalled left winger Jeff Smith from the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL and have signed defencemen Christian Chartier to a PTO.

Smith, 24, has not played any games with the Moose so far this season. The Regina, SK native has appeared in 57 career games in the AHL with the Philadelphia Phantoms, scoring two goals and six points, along with 138 penalty minutes. Last season, with the Phantoms, Smith scored one goal and four assists for five points and 116 penalty minutes.

Chartier, 24, has played in 194 games in the AHL his four-year pro career, all with the St. John's Maple Leafs from 2001-2004. In that time, he recorded 12 goals and 46 assists for 58 points and 100 penalty minutes. Chartier was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers with their seventh choice, 199th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
