Iowa and Dallas swap players

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have recalled forward Vojtech Polak and right wing Junior Lessard from the American Hockey League (AHL) club. Dallas also has assigned right wing David Oliver to the Iowa Stars.

Selected as the top college hockey player in 2004, the Hobey Baker Award, Junior Lessard has appeared in three games for the Iowa Stars this season, recording one goal, one assist and five penalty minutes: 3(1/1/2)5. His goal was the game-winner last Sunday in the Stars first-ever victory.

In 2004, he registered 63 points, including 32 goals in 45 games at the University of Minnesota-Duluth: 45(32/31/63). Last season with the Houston Aeros, the 6-0, 200 pound forward notched 11 goals and 11 assists: (11/11/22). He had two goals and two assist in six exhibition games with Dallas: 6(2/2/4).

The Czechoslovakian-born Polak (POH-lahk) was selected in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, 36th overall, by Dallas. The 6-0, 183 pound forward has appeared in all four Iowa games this season and is tied for third on the team with four points: (2/2/4). He recorded five points, including three assists in six games with Dallas in the exhibition season: (6/2/3/5).

Signed by Dallas as a free agent on August 12, 2005, Oliver has skated in three games for the Dallas Stars this season and was held scoreless. The Sechelt, British Columbia native played last season in England, skating in 16 games with the Guildford Flames, recording eight goals and 14 assists: 16(8/14/22). He made his NHL debut, scoring his first goal, on January 20th, 1995 vs. Anaheim.
