Wolves Ride Red Hot Start to Victory over Warriors

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves (4-4) defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (4-5) 123-109 on the road Friday evening at the Kaiser Permanente Arena, thanks in large part to a dazzling 70-43 first half performance.
With the win, Iowa remains undefeated on the road with a 2-0 record.
Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Naz Reid led the Wolves with another standout performance, finishing with 26 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while shooting 10-of-15 from the field.
Two-way forward Kelan Martin tallied a season-high 26 points in just his third game with the Wolves this season. The former Butler Bulldog shot an efficient 10-of-14 from the field and 4-of-5 from deep in the win.
The Wolves shot 50.0% or better for the second straight contest and are undefeated on the season when making at least half of their total shot attempts.
After leading by as many as 32 points, Iowa let its lead slip to as few as eight points in the fourth quarter before pulling away late.
Two-way guard Jordan McLaughlin and Timberwolves assignee Jaylen Nowell each finished with 17 points. McLaughlin scored all 17 points in the second half while Nowell dished out a team-high eight assists.
Former Iowa Energy guard Andrew Harrison scored a game-high 30 points for Santa Cruz in the loss. As a team the Warriors struggled to shoot the ball from deep, finishing 6-of-32 (18.8%) on three-point attempts.
Iowa will finish its three-game road trip tomorrow night against the Stockton Kings (6-3) at 9:00 p.m. CT.
