Osceola Magic News Release
As one of the organizations five pillars of community service, the Lakeland Magic dedicated the month of November to helping alleviate hunger across the Polk County community.
The Lakeland Magic teamed up with the Florida Baptist Children's Home to facilitate a canned food drive. Fans were asked to donate two canned items to receive a free ticket to the Magic's opening night game on November 16th. The Magic were able to donate numerous canned food items to assist the organizations mission in providing food and other items to children and families in need.
For the second year in a row, the Lakeland Magic staff worked with Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) to participate in their annual Thanksgiving meal delivery. VISTE is a community-based, non-profit organization that helps the elderly live safely and independently in their homes. The staff delivered fresh hot meals to numerous families across Polk County.
"This is what it's all about. It's a big need in our community and we look forward to helping assist these wonderful organizations every year." said President, Shelly Wilkes.
The Lakeland Magic will dedicate each month this season to one of the organizations five key pillars: Hunger, Homelessness, Youth Basketball, Health & Fitness and Education. The month of December will focus on Homelessness and the Magic players and staff will assist in numerous volunteer projects throughout the month.
