The Chicago Wolves have released goaltender STEVE SHIELDS and signed netminder SCOTT REID. In addition, the Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman BRAYDON COBURN to the Wolves.

SHIELDS posted a 1-1-0 mark in two games with the Wolves. His 1.47 goals-against average ranks third in the American Hockey League.

COBURN accrued one assist and four penalty minutes in nine games with Atlanta during his National Hockey League debut.

Last season, the 20-year-old blueliner recorded one assist and five penalty minutes in his first three professional games with the Wolves. He skated in all 18 of Chicago's playoff games, racking up one assist and 36 penalty minutes in those contests

COBURN was named to the Western Hockey League's Western Conference First All-Star Team last year after finishing sixth on the Portland Winter Hawks and 12th among league defensemen with a career-high 44 points (12G, 32A) in 60 games. The Calgary, Alberta, native also helped Team Canada win gold at the 2005 World Junior Championship.

REID has notched a 2-0-0 mark with a 3.50 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in two games with the Central Hockey League's Corpus Christi Rayz this season.
