Aeros recall G Kotyk from ECHL Augusta

HOUSTON, Texas - The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have recalled goaltender Seamus Kotyk (SHAY-muhz, KAH-tik) from the ECHL's Augusta Lynx, the teams announced Wednesday. Kotyk skated with the Aeros this afternoon and will accompany the team on this weekend's three-game road trip through Milwaukee, Grand Rapids and Peoria.

Kotyk, 25 (10/7/80), was assigned to the Lynx last week and went 2-1-0 with a 1.49 gaa and a .953 save percentage in three games. Last week, Kotyk was 2-0-0 with a 0.59 gaa and a .983 save percentage in two games and was named the ECHL Goalie of the Week.

Kotyk went 10-6-1 with a 2.95 gaa in 23 games last season for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. Prior to that, Kotyk spent the prior three seasons with the Cleveland Barons of the AHL, and his career mark in the league is 36-49-8 with a 2.69 gaa. Last April, he became the eighth goalie in AHL history to score a goal when he accomplished the feat against San Antonio. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound native of London, Ont., won the Gretzky Trophy as Ontario Hockey League post-season Most Valuable Player in 2001 as his Ottawa 67's advanced to the Memorial Cup. Ottawa won the Memorial Cup in 1999. In four seasons with the 67's, Kotyk went 75-38-16 a 2.69 gaa. Kotyk was Boston's fifth-round pick (No. 147 overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

The Aeros return home Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:05 p.m. to take on the Iowa Stars for the first time.
