Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

PEORIA, IL -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattler hitters took advantage of ten walks issued by Peoria Chief pitchers to rally from an early deficit for an 8-3 win Thursday night at O'Brien Field. Reed Eastley and Joe White each drove in a pair of runs for the Rattlers. Rattler starting pitcher Steve Richard settled down after a rough start to go seven solid innings and earn his third win of the season.

The Chiefs (4-4, second half, 35-42 overall) got on the board with an unearned run in the bottom of the first. Ryne Malone walked on four pitches. Then, Josh Lansford singled to right. Malone came around to score when the ball got by right fielder Carlos Peguero. Peoria made it 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Matt Camp. Richard gave up two hits in the rest of his outing.

The Rattler offense got going in the top of the fifth inning with a lot of help from the Chiefs. Calvin Beamon was on first with two outs. He moved to second when Peoria catcher Blake Lalli was charged with a passed ball. Juan Diaz singled to right and Beamon beat the throw to the plate. Back-to-back errors allowed Diaz to score the tying run. A walk loaded the bases. Then, Alex Liddi drew another walk to force in the go-ahead run.

Wisconsin (4-4, 26-50) used a two-out rally to extend their lead in the top of the sixth. Beamon drew a walk and Diaz singled. Eastley tripled off the top of the rightfield wall to drive in both runners for a 5-2 Rattler lead.

Peguero drew a bases loaded walk with two outs in the top of the eighth to force in another run for a 6-2 Wisconsin lead. Moments later White singled in a pair of runs to put Wisconsin up 8-2.

Richard left after the seventh inning. He struck out six and gave up five hits to pick up his second straight victory.

The Chiefs got a run on an RBI double by Ryne Malone in the eighth against Keith Renaud. Then, Shawn Kelley pitched a scoreless ninth inning to close out the Chiefs.

Wisconsin continues their road trip with a four game series that begins Friday night against the Swing of the Quad Cities. Wisconsin has Ricky Orta (2-1, 4.06) as their scheduled starting pitcher. The Swing will counter with Kyle Mura (2-0, 2.08). Game time at John O'Donnell Stadium in Davenport, Iowa is 7:00pm.
