Wings Split Doubleheader vs. Mets Thursday

Josh Rogers allowed one run over 5.0 innings and drove in three runs in game one as Rochester split a doubleheader with Syracuse Thursday night at NBT Bank Stadium. Yadiel Hernandez homered in both games.

Rogers, who did not have a professional hit, drove in two runs with a two-run single in the 2nd inning innings and added another RBI with a single in the 4th.

The Mets (14-36) scored on an RBI single in the 2nd inning from former Wing Wilfredo Tovar. Rogers allowed one run on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5.0 innings.

Hernandez homered to leadoff the 5th inning to cap the scoring at 4-1. Dakota Bacus allowed one hit over 2.0 scoreless innings to earn his third save of the season.

In game two, the Mets led 1-0 until the Red Wings (21-30) scored four runs in the 3rd inning, all with two outs. Hernandez put the Wings on the board with a solo homer to tie the game and three straight hits, an error, and two walks plated three more runs to make it 4-1. Rafael Bautista added a solo homer in the 5th to extend the lead to 5-1.

Syracuse answered in the bottom of the 5th with three runs. Khalil Lee hit an RBI triple and later scored on a Tovar RBI single to bring the Mets within 5-4. Drew Jackson, who made two great catches in the center field for Syracuse, singled and scored in the 6th to tie the game.

Cesar Puello completed the Mets comeback with a walk-off single to score Lee, who was the automatic runner at second base.

Rochester and Syracuse continue the six-game series on Friday at 6:35 p.m. RHP Tyler Eppler goes for the Wings.
