Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings lost 7-4 to the Scranton/WB RailRiders at Frontier Field for the fifth time in as many games, extending their losing streak to 10 straight.

RHP Will Harris took the mound for the second time in a Wings uniform, giving up a hit and a run in one inning of work.

Scranton's Estevan Florial homered on the third pitch of the game, giving the RailRiders a 1-0 lead after one. The Wings fell into a 6-0 hole after allowing a five-run third inning, with four of those runs coming via a grand slam from DH Josh Breaux. It was his fourth long ball of the season, this one coming off Wings RHP Patrick Murphy.

Murphy gave up the grand slam (unearned) and logged three strikeouts in 1.2 innings before LHP Francisco Perez took over.

An error from 1B Joey Meneses in the third allowed Tyler Wade to reach first and ended Meneses' 44-game errorless streak dating back to May 15 at Worcester.

RHP Curtis Taylor relieved Perez in the fifth and allowed the RailRiders to crush their third homerun of the game, a solo shot from Oswald Cabrera that put Scranton up 7-0. The RailRiders have logged three home runs in back-to-back games against Rochester and have registered five three-homer games in July.

The Wings tallied their first run in the sixth on an RBI from Meneses that allowed RF Donovan Casey to reach home. They scored three times in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI walk from C Riley Adams and sac-flies from DH David Dahl and 3B Jake Alu, cutting the lead to 7-4, but the rally fell just short. Rochester now owns a 10-game losing streak for the first time since 2021.

LHP Luis Avilan and LHP Carson Teel pitched for 1.2 and two innings, respectively, holding Scranton hitless and scoreless.

One of Rochester's lone bright spots came in the ninth when LF Josh Palacios extended his International League-leading hitting streak to 18 straight games, and his on-base streak to 31 straight games in an eight pitch at-bat.

RailRiders RHP Jhony Brito held Rochester scoreless on three hits through five innings, also throwing a season-high six strikeouts in the win.

Rochester will look to avoid a sweep Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field, sending RHP Franklyn Kilome to the mound against Scranton LHP Ken Waldichuk. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
