MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Norfolk Tides in game five of a six-game series at AutoZone Park on Saturday night by the final score of 5-2.
After going the first six innings without tallying a run, Memphis exploded for five runs across their final two frames at the plate. After a Pedro Pages RBI single in the seventh, the Redbirds found themselves down 2-1.
After singles from first baseman Luken Baker and second baseman Cory Spangenberg to start the eighth inning, Memphis would receive RBI singles from third baseman Roberto Baldoquin to tie the game and center fielder Ben DeLuzio to give Memphis the lead for good.
On the pitching side, Memphis turned to a bullpen day to earn the victory. Reliever Freddy Pacheco (1-1) earned the win while Ryan Loutos earned his second Triple-A save of the year.
Yadier Molina finished his second MLB Rehab appearance going 1-for-2 with a walk after starting the game at catcher. Molina is scheduled to be in the Memphis lineup once more on Sunday afternoon.
The Memphis Redbirds (54-44) return to AutoZone Park on Sunday afternoon against the Norfolk Tides (46-52), Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles for a scheduled 2:05 p.m. CDT first pitch..
