'Pigs Back in the Win Column

(Durham, NC) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (53-45) snapped their three-game losing streak against the Durham Bulls (54-44) as they won 7-6 on Saturday evening. Kent Emanuel (2-1) pitched five shutout innings for the victory.

Justin Williams hit an RBI single against Taj Bradley (1-1) in the top of the first inning to score Jean Segura and give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead. Segura extended Lehigh Valley's lead to 3-0 against Bradley in the top of the second inning when he hit a two-run single that scored Chris Sharpe and Mickey Moniak.

Drew Maggi put the IronPigs ahead of the Bulls 4-0 when he hit an RBI single against Joe Wieland that scored Josh Ockimey. Durham finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning against Sam Coonrod as Miles Mastrobuoni hit an RBI single that scored Grant Witherspoon and Xavier Edwards hit an RBI single that scored Vidal Brujan.

The IronPigs took a 7-2 lead against Joel Peguero in the top of the eighth inning as Ockimey hit a three-run home run that scored Williams and Scott Kingery. The home run was Ockimey's third as an IronPig. Tristan Gray hit a two-run home run against Jace Fry in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 7-4. Gray homered again against Jakob Hernandez in the bottom of the ninth inning - a two-run home run that trimmed the lead for Lehigh Valley to 7-6.

Hernandez earned his third save despite giving up the two-run home run. He was able to record two strikeouts to close out the game.

The IronPigs and Bulls will wrap up their series on Sunday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
